Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue building a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West between Helen Street / Wigwoss Drive and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.

Starting 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, crews are shifting the work zone to the west side

  • on Wigwoss Drive north of Highway 7 and
  • on Helen Street south of Highway 7.

North- and southbound traffic flows on the east side of the streets, as crews install water mains. The work zone also restricts northbound traffic on both streets to just one lane.

“Paid-duty” York Regional Police officers will be on site to control traffic as crews reconfigure traffic lanes.

All driveways remain accessible within the work zone. However, construction activities may temporarily restrict or block driveways.

The new traffic lanes remain in place 24 hours a day until February 7. Crews work daily from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Expect noise before working hours, as crews assemble and arrange equipment.

From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, crews set up a temporary work zone to repair utility access portals (or “manholes”), blocking traffic lanes

  • on Highway 7 west of Weston Road.

“Paid-duty” York Regional Police officers will be on site to control traffic.

Brampton Transit may temporarily relocate bus stops, as crews work. BT passengers aboard buses along this route can also expect delays:
